The All Saints Way

Sitting among the students at our Prep to Year 2 assembly this week, I smiled as Mrs Buckley spoke to the image on the screen — our familiar I Contribute poster with its simple but powerful reminders:

  • I am respectful / You are respected
  • I am a learner / You are a learner
  • I am safe / You are safe

She asked our youngest learners what it means to contribute to our school. Hands shot up: “Picking up rubbish.” “Helping our friends.” “Trying our best.” Their answers captured the heart of what we’re striving for across the whole school, understanding that every small action shapes our shared culture.

RE-ESTABLISHING THE ALL SAINTS WAY
At the end of last term, our students and staff reflected together on the traits we’re most proud of in areas such as greetings, uniform, communication, readiness for lessons and professionalism. We called this collective work the All Saints Way.

These habits aren’t new expectations; they’re being reinforced because they matter. They’re how we show that we belong here and value one another’s efforts. While many of the everyday standards have held well, we’ve noticed some drop-off in levels of
commitment — and this is our opportunity, together, to ensure the small habits that define us remain strong.

COMMITMENT AND CONTRIBUTION
Two areas where we particularly want to see improvement are:

  1. School camps and outdoor education programs. These experiences are central to
    building resilience, team-spirit, adaptability and leadership. They’re not side events; they are integral to what makes an All Saints education.
  2. APS Sport from Year 4 upward. Participation is expected; full engagement is part of who we are. Research shows that around one third of Australian children have asked to stop playing organised sport by age 15 (Allianz Australia).

We want our students to be players, not watchers: engaged, committed and proud of their involvement. When students attend camps and sport with genuine commitment, school and House spirit grow. I’ve been meeting our new School Captains and hearing their enthusiasm for lifting our school and House spirit in 2026, from cheering on sideline teams to ensuring every camp is a full, positive participation experience. Their voices matter and they’re setting the tone.

A SHARED COMMITMENT
As we move into the rest of the year and look ahead to 2026:

  • Uniform, punctuality, greeting and readiness for learning are non-negotiable.
  • Full participation in APS Sport and school camps is expected and essential. These
    are part of our identity, not optional extras.
  • Contribution counts. Whether it’s picking up litter, helping a classmate, or cheering
    on your House team—you matter, and your actions matter.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTNERSHIP
We’re so fortunate at All Saints to have such strong parent/carer support and high levels of engagement. Thank you for your continued commitment and for partnering with us in this work. You reinforce at home that attendance, punctuality and participation are part of character. When you encourage your child to stay the course when things are tough, you build confidence and pride. If you see barriers — cost, logistics, anxiety — please reach out early to your Head of School or Director of Sport. We will always work with you to find a way.

A NOTE TO OUR YEAR 12s
To our Year 12 students: you are doing great. The calmness, maturity and focus you’ve shown during your exams has been deeply impressive. You’re almost there, and we’re all proud of you.

LOOKING AHEAD
The next few weeks will be magnificent. Our Middle School celebrations are already underway, followed by a full week of festivities for our Senior students and graduating Class of 2025 in Week 7. Then, to round out the year, Week 8 will see our Year 6 Graduation and the Junior School End of Year Celebration on the Oval, another highlight in our calendar.

So much is happening, so much fun, so much magic — and at the heart of it all is The All Saints Way: showing up, contributing fully, and taking pride in every part of our remarkable community.

For guaranteed delivery before Term 1 2026, orders must be placed by Friday 15 December 2025. 

All orders placed on time will include free delivery to your nominated address and will be dispatched as soon as they are ready.

Junior School

Year 6 Entrepreneurship Project

Year 6 students have been feverishly working towards the culmination of a fantastic entrepreneurial project which has seen them imagine, design, create and market a saleable product. Adding to the complexity of the project has been the expectation that they work collaboratively in small groups, consider budgeting constraints and create their product entirely out of recycled materials.

This week the results of their hardwork were on display at our annual Junior School Entrepreneurs Market. The Year 6 students presented their products to the Junior School in beautifully designed stalls and the younger students were able to wander, try out and then purchase their unique, hand made items. All monies raised will be donated to Giveathon 2025.

This has been no ordinary project, engaging and inspiring our Junior School leaders to think big, bold and adventurously. A huge thank you and congratulations to Mr Simon Reed who envisioned this enterprising project some years ago, guiding and challenging our students continuously to think beyond what they believe might be possible. The Entrepreneurs Market project has now become a favourite initiative for our students in their final Junior School year.

Year 5 Pen Pal Program

Last week, our Year 5 students experienced something truly special. All Saints Anglican School hosted four consecutive mornings filled with laughter, stories, and heartfelt connections during a series of morning teas with their cherished pen pals. These gatherings showcased the power of Service Learning in action.

Students welcomed guests from Earle Haven Retirement Village, Tricare Cypress Gardens, Anglican Church Robina Parish, and the Currumbin RSL Veteran Support Centre. Each morning tea was a celebration of friendship and community spirit, as students and guests shared conversations that spanned generations.

For many of our visitors, these interactions were more than just social—they were moments of joy and connection that brightened their week. For our students, it was an opportunity to practice empathy, gratitude, and active listening, while learning firsthand about resilience and the richness of life experience.

One guest summed up the sentiment beautifully:
“Thank you for a lovely day at the school on Friday. I was very impressed with the students and their lovely manners, and the friendliness of the staff. We were made to feel very, very welcome.”


The smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears reminded us why Service Learning is such an integral part of the All Saints journey. It’s about more than service; it’s about building bridges, fostering understanding, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to our Year 5 students, their teachers, and our wonderful guests for making these mornings unforgettable. Together, we’ve shown that when generations come together, communities grow stronger.

End of Year Celebration Evening

Lock Wednesday evening, 26 November in your diary as secret plans for this year’s spectacular end of year celebration are well underway. This year will be a whole of Junior School event on the main oval under what is sure to be a beautiful evening. (I’m working on that now!)

The Giving Tree

This year we are, once again, thankful to be part of the St John's Crisis Centre Christmas gift appeal. To support this wonderful appeal, we will be collecting donations of gifts to put under our Giving Tree which will be on display in our Junior School Library.

This project helps Gold Coast families in need during Christmas time, a financially difficult time of the year for many families. Our gift giving focus will be on new toys and gifts for children up to the age of 16, and we would love you to consider making a donation.

When donating, the organisation has kindly asked if you could wrap using clear cellophane or place an unwrapped present in a gift bag. Please take your gifts to the Junior School office. This is another wonderful opportunity for children to embrace the Christmas spirit of giving this season and experience the truth of that well known scripture, 'It is more blessed to give than receive'.

Junior School Musical 2026 Auditions

It has been a very big and very exciting week for our 2026 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang hopefuls with auditions for ensembles and lead roles taking place in the Junior School throughout this week. At All Saints we love to include everyone who is willing to commit to this fantastic learning opportunity and life experience in the production and this year’s cast will be almost 120 strong.

Our Performing Arts team, aka The Dream Team, Mr Lange, Mrs Tucker and Mrs Nairn, have had a very challenging task placing all cast members carefully and our cast will be shared later next week. There is bound to be some disappointment as not everyone has, or can, be placed in their preferred role but we encourage everyone involved to understand the great privilege it is to be part of something so momentous and special. I always explain that putting our Junior School musical together is like creating a beautiful jigsaw where every piece plays a significant role in the beauty of the final product. Even the smallest piece missing takes away from the overall picture.

A special thank you to senior school students who have been helping calm nerves as Year 4 and 5 students wait for their audition and to those helping with music and filming.

Congratulations to everyone who auditioned, it takes such courage to stand up and perform in front of others.

Sun Safety – Hats and Sunscreen

Students have been reminded, and warned, about the consequences of not wearing hats outside of classrooms this week. We have a very strict No Hat, No Play rule and students not wearing hats outside of classrooms will be asked to sit out during play and sports lessons.

All students will be reminded by teachers to take their hats with them when leaving the classroom to either play or attend PE lessons. They will also need to have them on during afterschool play at Aspire OSHClub if they are playing outside.

Although we understand that sometimes hats get misplaced I would encourage parents to ensure that their children have a spare, named hat in their bag at all times. I understand that it seems overly tough to expect this of parents or to ask children to miss out on play when they don’t have a hat but the consequences of sunburn and skin damage from even small amounts of sun exposure are definitely not worth the risk. We return named hats to students if they turn up at the office and will actively help locate a lost hat.

Students who are regularly without their hats, whether lost, misplaced or conveniently tucked away at the bottom of their bag, will lose play.

During swimming lessons we are very conscious of students not wearing hats in the pool. To avoid skin damage during these lessons our sport teachers try to ensure that most instructions are given in the shade prior to entry to the pool and that while in the pool students are predominantly involved in stroke work to keep most of their bodies under water. We will also be encouraging students to reapply sunscreen.

We are incredibly fortunate to have large amounts of covered play space but students have been reminded that they must have a hat on at all times during play times. We want them to develop strong sun safety habits and movement between covered play spaces often involves covering distances in the sun. We are not prepared to risk our young people’s safety and so are being particularly heavy handed with these rules at present.

I know you will understand and appreciate your full support. Your assistance in helping remind your children to check that they have their hat and in applying sunscreen at the start of each day would be greatly appreciated.

Junior School Students Doing Great Things

GOLD COAST LEGO LEAGUE
Lachlan
B, Isla B, and Clémence C (Year 3) were part of the QRCA team that won the Gold Coast Regional First LEGO League Challenge on Saturday 1 November. Lachlan was overseas, so Isla stepped in for the presentation.

The challenge combines robotics, coding, research, and problem-solving, with teams building and programming LEGO robots to complete missions and present a real-world project.

In addition to taking out the overall win, the team earned the Breakthrough Award for promising competitors—impressive given they were among the youngest in a field of 9 to 16-year-olds!

Next stop: National Championship North at Griffith University  on 30 November.

GIVEATHON FUNDRAISING

and Daisy showed incredible initiative by running a charity sale to support Giveathon. Their stand featured delicious cupcakes, handmade bracelets, and fun keyrings, all crafted and sold to raise funds for this worthy cause. A fantastic effort by these generous young changemakers!

      Head Down, Tails Up

      This week Middle Earthlings have been heads down, tails up putting the finishing touches to their final assessments for the year.

      Whilst the results that follow do not contribute to the calculation of awards for the Celebration/Graduation Evenings for Years 7, 8 and 9 respectively, they will complete the picture for the globalised Levels of Achievement that appear in each child’s End of Year Report. 

      We are so proud of the growth demonstrated by all our students across this year and look forward to celebrating these efforts in coming weeks.

      Orientation Morning

      A huge thank you to all the students and parents of the Class of 2031 who attended last Wednesday’s Orientation/Parent Information Morning. 

      It was a wonderful opportunity for the 2026 cohort of brand-new Year 7s to connect, as well as a time for parents of both continuing and brand-new parents to meet and greet.

      Year 7 Celebration Evening

      Last week, on Thursday 30 October, the Class of 2030 and their families gathered in the Nairn Theatre to enjoy performances by the Holst Wind Ensemble and Melba Girls Chorus and hear a selection of Year 7 volunteers regale us with a series of speeches giving us The Year in Review. The night concluded with the whole cohort enthusiastically performing their take on Wake Me Up by Avicii.

      In the last few editions of Saints Alive, I have explained the criteria upon which our three Celebration Evening awards – ‘Academic’, ‘Citizenship’ and ‘Endeavour’ – are judged. On the night, we acknowledged the following students:

      Year 8 Celebration Evening

      On Thursday 6 November the Year 8 community gathered for their Celebration Evening. Not only did we get to hear superb performances by Stravinsky Strings and the Giant Steps Big Band, but the entire cohort took the stage to Just Dance to Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake.

      Year 8 Celebration Evening 30

      2026 Middle School Production

      Over the past three Fridays, a huge gaggle of 6s, 7s and 8s have gathered to start devising next year’s production. The show’s working title is Waymaker and it will be an original jukebox musical that will have its world premier in Week 4 of Term 3 in 2026.

      Some important timelines to note:

      • Audition packs for leads will be released in early December of 2025
      • Auditions for leads will be held in Week 2 of Term 1, 2026
      • Sign-ups for chorus, specialist dancers and backstage crew will take place in Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 1, 2026
      • Rehearsals for leads and specialist dancers will commence in Week 3 of Term 1, 2026
      • Rehearsals for the whole cast (including Chorus) will commence in Term 2, 2026
      • A dedicated FIDO page with all the relevant details will be launched before the end of the year.

      We look forward to a veritable army of Middlers and parents signing up to be part of yet another Nairn Theatre extravaganza!

      Year 9 Graduation Next Week

      The final step in a student’s journey through Middle Earth is the Year 9 Graduation whereby we recognise outstanding student contributions in the areas of academic performance, endeavour and citizenship, award subject prizes for each ‘Elective’ and celebrate the cohort’s three years with us.

      For the Class of 2028, their Year 9 Graduation takes place next week on Thursday 13 November (Week 6)

      Celebrating Creativity: Middle School Art Exhibition

      Art has the power to bring people together, spark conversations, and express ideas that words often cannot. This year, we proudly present our Middle School Art Exhibition titled Connection, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of students from Years 7 to 9.

      The exhibition will feature a curated selection of artworks that explore the theme of connection — whether through relationships, nature, culture, or abstract interpretations. Each piece reflects the unique perspective of our young artists and their ability to communicate meaning through color, form, and imagination.

      • Time: 4.45pm – 6.45pm
      • Venue: Middle School Art Room, G Block
      • Dress: Day uniform required for students 

      This is a wonderful opportunity for families, friends, and the school community to come together and celebrate the artistic achievements of our students. The exhibition promises to be an inspiring experience, highlighting the importance of creativity in education and the connections that art fosters among us all.

      Mack Secures Spot on Australian Team for 2026 FAI F4 World Championships

      We’re proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by Mack D (Year 9), who has earned a place on the Australian team for the 2026 FAI F4 World Championships for Scale Model Aircraft, to be held in the United Kingdom!

      Mack recently competed in a national qualifying event, placing fifth out of seven competitors. This strong performance secured his spot on the team that will represent Australia on the world stage next year.

      The World Championships will feature over 130 competitors from around the globe, including junior pilots, all showcasing their skills in scale model aircraft building and flying. In this discipline, participants must construct their own aircraft (either from kits or completely from scratch) to replicate real planes from around the world.

      For his entry, Mack chose to build a model of the Ghost Writer Airshows Super Chipmunk, a striking aerobatic aircraft known for its dynamic performances. His attention to detail and craftsmanship were key to his success.

      Mack extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported him in the lead-up to the competition. We’re excited to follow his journey and cheer him on as he prepares to take flight in the UK next year!

      Final Stretch for Year 12 – Six Days to Go!

      External examinations continue. Whilst every student’s experience will be different, I am heartened by the majority of positive responses I get from students at the completion of each examination. I have been impressed by the approach taken by our Year 12 cohort.

      With six days of examinations left, we are all still available for every student. We wish them luck and hope they can give of their best until the end. 

      The marking of these external examinations has commenced. QCAA Assessors mark student external assessment responses in a marking operation that runs in parallel with the examination period and for a number of days afterwards. Many of our staff are markers and I thank them for being part of this process. 

      A student’s overall assessment result is calculated by adding their internal and external assessment results. The total is on a scale from 1 to 100. The marks for internal assessment in a subject are not affected by the marks on the external assessment. They are simply added together to give a result out of 100.

      Year 11 Eucharist

      It was wonderful to see the Year 11 cohort and families come together at the Year 11 Family Eucharist last Tuesday night. 

      It was a lovely service, and the students were a credit to themselves in the way they engaged with the evening. 

      Mr Brendan Callaghan gave a moving and thoughtful reflection, and his modelling of humble servant leadership sets an example for our leaders of 2026. 

      Thank you to both Brendan and Mother Ann for organising and hosting this evening that brings our community together and thank you to all the parents in attendance.

      Academic Honours

      As Mr Corbett said in his address at our Academic Honours Assembly last Wednesday, "we attempt to find, and nurture, every student’s special talent through a broad curriculum, but academic success must always lie at the heart of our mission. Helping each student to achieve to the very best of their ability is one of our primary motivations along with the wellbeing of every student."

      In March 2026, you will receive a letter from the Minister for Education and the Arts inviting you to participate in the Next Step Year 12 Completers survey, following up on your activities after graduating.       Art in Action: Inspiring Visits, Student Success & Emerging Talent

      We were privileged to welcome back Carolyn V Watson, a multi-award-winning artist renowned for her evocative works that bridge the realms of the natural and the unknown. With exhibitions spanning Australia and collections both here and abroad, Carolyn’s art captivates with its blend of the familiar and the otherworldly, grounded in authentic objects yet always inviting curiosity and wonder.

      We were delighted to welcome back multi-award-winning artist Carolyn V Watson whose evocative works blend the natural with the unknown. Her art, exhibited across Australia and internationally, captivates with its unique mix of the familiar and the otherworldly.

      This year, Carolyn once again enriched our Visual Art department, delivering tailored workshops to both Year 11 Visual Art and Visual Arts in Practice students. Her longstanding collaboration with our school ensures each visit is uniquely crafted to meet the evolving needs of our students.

      For our Visual Arts in Practice cohort, Carolyn introduced a dynamic exploration of sculpture, drawing inspiration from the imaginative world of Shaun Tan. Students had the rare opportunity to handle Carolyn’s own sculptures and learn a diverse range of techniques and finishes. These hands-on experiences will directly inform the students’ own sculptural creations in the coming term.

      Meanwhile, our Visual Art students benefited from an insightful presentation in which Carolyn shared her artistic journey and creative process, thoughtfully aligning her methods with the student inquiry learning model. Her visit not only inspired but also empowered students to pursue their own artistic inquiries with confidence and curiosity.

      CREATIVE GENERATIONS EXCELLENCE AWARDS: OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS

      We are thrilled to announce the exceptional success of our students at the recent Creative Generations Excellence Awards regional exhibition. This year’s competition was particularly fierce, with more than double the entries in the South East region compared to last year.

      Amidst this heightened competition, we celebrate Alley Cooney, who received a Commendation Award for her enigmatic installation, and Ellen Sleep, whose artwork, Summed Up, was honoured with an Excellence Award. Ellen’s achievement means her work will be exhibited at the prestigious GOMA next year: a remarkable accomplishment.

      This marks the third consecutive year that our Year 12 students have attained Excellence Awards and exhibited at Brisbane’s premier gallery, a testament to the talent, dedication, and creative spirit that define our Visual Art community.

      YEAR 10 VISUAL ARTS IN PRACTICE - WHEEL THROWING BEGINS!

      This week marked an exciting start for our Year 10 Visual Arts in Practice students as they began honing their wheel-throwing skills. Their goal? To create beautiful ceramic pieces for their client: Mrs Kat Pearson, Convener of the School Fair.

      After an insightful interview with Mrs Pearson, where students gathered requirements and specifications for the wares, the design phase is now in full swing. There’s a buzz of creativity as students sketch and plan their pieces.

      Lessons on the wheel have revealed some impressive emerging talent. Students have already tackled the challenge of centring clay and thrown their first plates and vessels. They’ve also experienced the rewarding process of turning and trimming—transforming simple pots into refined, elegant forms.

      Look forward to next year’s School Fair, where these unique, handcrafted wares will be available for purchase. All proceeds go into the P and F funds, highlighting the essence of the Visual Arts in Practice course: entrenching projects into real-world experiences.

      Hospitality Students Host Exceptional Graduation Dinner at Heavens Above Restaurant

      The Year 12 Hospitality students recently celebrated the culmination of their studies by hosting a graduation dinner at Heavens Above Restaurant. This event marked the successful completion of their two-year journey, and a nationally recognised qualification – SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality!

      The evening featured a delicious three-course menu, showcasing the students' acquired skills and culinary preferences. Guests were treated to a gourmet entrée of arancini, followed by a choice of poached salmon or herbed lamb cutlets for the main course. The dessert offerings included biscoff cheesecake and a vanilla-infused panna cotta accompanied by a blood orange compote.

      In addition to the culinary delights, the bar students presented an array of classic cocktails, such as the Gin Gin Mule and the French Martini, expertly paired with the evening's courses.

      Throughout their studies, the students have engaged in both theoretical and practical training across various facets of the hospitality industry, including kitchen operations, bar service, and front-of-house management. Their capabilities were demonstrated through involvement in numerous events, including the Giveathon lunches, Principal’s corporate lunches, Archbishop’s lunch, Melbourne Cup events, Sustainability Luncheon, and early breakfast functions at Heavens Above Restaurant.

      The graduation evening was an emotional occasion, with students and staff reflecting on their shared experiences through a heartfelt photo presentation. Each student was presented with their Certificate III in Hospitality and a commemorative gift, symbolizing their dedication and achievements.

      We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the students and wish them continued success and fulfillment in their future endeavours within the hospitality industry.

      Diploma of Business and Diploma of Social Media Marketing Graduation

      Last week, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our Diploma of Business and Diploma of Social Media Marketing students. The Diploma of Business equips students with essential skills in communication, management, and leadership, preparing them for a wide range of career pathways or future study. Meanwhile, the Diploma of Social Media Marketing develops students’ creativity and digital expertise, providing them with practical experience in online strategy, branding, and content creation, highly sought-after skills in today’s digital world.

      A total of 47 Year 12 students received their certificates after successfully completing a nationally recognised qualification, a fantastic accomplishment reflecting their hard work, commitment, and perseverance over the past 18 months.

      We would also like to congratulate the following students who were recognised with subject prizes for their outstanding achievement:

      Let’s talk about Young Adult Literature

      Ask your child: What are you reading these days?
      Gold Coast Teacher Librarians recently met at the fabulous local (and fast trending) bookshop and cafe BOOKNESS in Mudgeeraba to discuss Young Adult (YA) Literature and the rich diversity within it. YA continues to be a powerful tool for engaging students in Years 7–12, offering relatable narratives across sub-genres such as contemporary realism, historical, fantasy, dystopia, romance and diversity novels. Australian authors are increasingly bringing authentic voices and cultural depth to the genre. The influence of BookTok has further energised teen reading culture, making YA Literature a social and emotionally resonant experience. Our YA collection is continuously curated and expanded to meet our students’ demand.

      The Power of Choice and Emotional Growth Through Reading

      Central to our discussion was the importance of self-selection and autonomy in reading. When students are given the freedom to choose their own books, they are more likely to engage deeply and develop a lifelong love of reading. YA Literature often explores complex and sometimes uncomfortable emotional terrain—identity, mental health, relationships, and social justice—providing teens with safe spaces to reflect, empathise, and grow. Opportunities to read and talk about reading, whether in the library, classroom, online, or (especially) at home foster emotional intelligence and support teens’ wellbeing by validating their experiences and encouraging thoughtful dialogue.

      Looking Ahead: Building a Culture of Reading Together

      With the combined efforts of the Library staff, Teachers and Parents, we can cultivate a vibrant reading culture that bridges school and home. By promoting regular opportunities to read, celebrating student selections, and modelling reading as a joyful and meaningful activity, we can inspire even reluctant readers. The future is bright: with intentional curation of YA titles, inclusive collections, and student-led initiatives, we can increase reading rates across the middle and senior years. Together, we can nurture curious, compassionate, confident, lifelong readers.

      Year 11 Family Eucharist Shines Bright

      Last Tuesday evening, the All Saints Chapel was transformed into a radiant space of joy, connection, and spiritual reflection as our Year 11 students and their families gathered for a truly unforgettable Family Eucharist.

      From the moment the Chapel band struck their first chord, the scene was set. We are so blessed by the passion and skill of the students who willingly participate, self-organise and rehearse with excellence. Their music lifted hearts and voices, setting the tone for an evening that celebrated light—both literal and symbolic. Students and parents sang along, and led by our captains and their bold classmates, the customary dancing along with the spiritual songs was a delight, a spontaneous expression of the joy that filled the room. I reckon Jesus himself might have been toe tapping with joy.

      One of the most moving moments came during Mr Callaghan’s reflection. With the theme of light in the darkness, he invited everyone to turn on their mobile phone torches, illuminating the Chapel in a sea of gentle beams. It was a powerful visual reminder that even the smallest light can break through the dark—a message that resonated deeply with students and parents alike. Christ is our light!

      The Eucharist itself was a sacred and special time. Families stood side by side to receive communion, a quiet yet profound act of unity and grace. For many, it was a rare and beautiful opportunity to share in a spiritual moment with their children, surrounded by the warmth of the school community.

      As one parent commented: I’m not particularly religious, but these services always touch my heart, and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.

      This Eucharist was more than just a service—it was a celebration of connection, of light, and of the vibrant spirit of our Year 11 cohort. As the final song rang out and the community left the Chapel to share some refreshments together, hearts were full and spirits lifted. It was a night to remember, and a shining example of what makes All Saints so special.

      Be blessed dear friends in these last precious weeks of term, bittersweet for some of as we farewell our Class of 2025.

      Celebrating All Saints Day and remembering Jason Drummond

      At All Saints Anglican School, All Saints Day, 1st November each year, is more than a date on the calendar—it’s a celebration of our identity, our community, and our shared journey of faith and purpose. Rooted in the Anglican tradition, this day invites us to pause and reflect on the lives of those who have gone before us—ordinary people who lived with extraordinary grace, courage, and love. It’s a time to honour the saints among us and within us.

      Our school culture is deeply shaped by the values that All Saints Day embodies: compassion, service, humility, and hope. These values are not just taught—they are lived out daily in classrooms, playgrounds, chapels, and service projects. Whether it’s through the Giveathon campaign, Chapel reflections, or the quiet kindness of students helping one another, we see the spirit of us in the sainthood alive in our community.

      This year, our All Saints Day celebrations have been filled with joy and gratitude, albeit shadowed by the untimely death of our beloved Jason Drummond, fondly known as Drummo. Beloved Senior School Librarian much loved by students and colleagues alike. He was always up for a laugh, eager to help wherever he could, and from anime to buying in books requested by students, helping students with their work, nothing was ever too much for him.

      As one of his colleagues commented: 

      He was the best manager I have ever had in my entire career. 

      A student who knew him as a close family friend commented: He was a great guy but a bad punter. 

      He did love a flutter on the horses. We grieved his passing, and held his family in our prayers, counting him as a great exemplar of the values which we hold dear. Students and staff gathered in Chapel to pray, and share stories of inspiration, and he was counted among our saints as we shared the Eucharist in each of our Middle and Senior School Chapels this week.

      Preceded by Foundation Day held earlier in the term, we remembered all those who have shaped our school’s story and looked ahead to the future we are building together—one shaped by the All Saints Blueprint 2026+, our collective vision for a thriving, inclusive, and faith-filled school.

      All Saints Day reminds us that we are part of something bigger—a communion of people striving to make the world a little brighter. It’s a day to celebrate the light in each other and to recommit ourselves to being that light in the lives of others.

      As we continue to grow and learn together, may we carry the joy and spirit of All Saints Day into every corner of our school life.

      Year 5 Pen Pal Program

      Last week, our Year 5 students experienced something truly special. All Saints Anglican School hosted four consecutive mornings filled with laughter, stories, and heartfelt connections during a series of morning teas with their cherished pen pals. These gatherings showcased the power of Service Learning in action.

      Students welcomed guests from Earle Haven Retirement Village, Tricare Cypress Gardens, Anglican Church Robina Parish, and the Currumbin RSL Veteran Support Centre. Each morning tea was a celebration of friendship and community spirit, as students and guests shared conversations that spanned generations.

      For many of our visitors, these interactions were more than just social—they were moments of joy and connection that brightened their week. For our students, it was an opportunity to practice empathy, gratitude, and active listening, while learning firsthand about resilience and the richness of life experience.

      One guest summed up the sentiment beautifully:
      “Thank you for a lovely day at the school on Friday. I was very impressed with the students and their lovely manners, and the friendliness of the staff. We were made to feel very, very welcome.”


      The smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears reminded us why Service Learning is such an integral part of the All Saints journey. It’s about more than service; it’s about building bridges, fostering understanding, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

      A huge thank you to our Year 5 students, their teachers, and our wonderful guests for making these mornings unforgettable. Together, we’ve shown that when generations come together, communities grow stronger.

      Touch takes over Term 4

      In 2025, nine representative touch football teams (U10 Boys, U12 Boys and Girls, U13 Boys and Girls, U15 Boys and Girls and Open Boys and Girls) were selected and trained to represent All Saints this year in the competitive touch season.

      After only a few weeks of training, our teams had the opportunity to get their first competitive run in at the annual Kings Cup Tournament. This is a preliminary event run prior to the Queensland All Schools Touch Championships that allows teams a chance to compete with many of their opponents from Queensland All Schools, but also to play to the conditions of the major tournament. Whilst Kings Cup was an opportunity to put into action what had been practised at training, the All Saints Open Boys and U12 Girls should be commended for topping their pools and progressing through to semi-finals against Keebra Park State Schools and Coomera Rivers State School respectively.

      SECONDARY ALL SCHOOLS TOUCH 

      From Wednesday 8 October to Sunday 12 October the All Saints U13, U15 and Open Boys and Girls teams competed in the Queensland Secondary All Schools Touch Tournament hosted at Runaway Bay Sports Centre. For perspective, this tournament is the largest touch tournament in the world with over 600 teams, 8,000 players, playing over 2,000 games over the five days.

      Teams competed in round games which gave them an overall pool placing and age group placing. As the tournament is so large, progression is from pool rounds straight to top 16 which is an incredible feat!

      For only the second year back in this competition, All Saints secondary teams are to be commended for their commitment to the short training period that lead up to this competition as well as to their dedication as they represented ASAS over the five days. Overall results can be found below:

      • U13 Boys: 40th place out of 58 teams overall (6th in pool)
      • U13 Girls: 17th out of 85 teams overall (2nd in pool) – missed out on top 16 final by one try on for and against. Amazing!
      • U15 Boys: 65th out of 89 teams overall (5th in pool)
      • U15 Girls: 44th out of 124 teams overall (3rd in pool)
      • Open Boys: 37th out of 52 teams overall (6th in pool)
      • Open Girls: 75th out of 89 teams overall (6th in pool)

      PRIMARY ALL SCHOOLS TOUCH 
      From Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November, the All Saints U10 Boys and U12 Boys and Girls’ teams competed at the Primary All School Touch Championships hosted by Redlands Touch Association. Like the secondary competition, this tournament in 2025 was the biggest of its kind so far with nearly 350 primary teams competing over the three days. For the primary championships teams are seeded through their round games into either the: championship, cup, plate, bowl or shield finals progressions.

      U10 Boys:

      • Won 3 out of 4 round games and managed to progress through to the top 16 in the championship finals!
      • Competed in the finals and knocked out by Faith Lutheran College (6-0)
      • Overall finish 15th out of 45 teams

      U12 Girls:

      • Won 4 out of 5 round games and progressed through to the top 16 in the finals
      • Competed in the final - top 16 knock out round and went down 3-2 to Hillcrest
      • Overall finish 30th out of 93 teams

      U12 Boys:

      • Won 3 out of 5 round games and progressed through to the top 16 in the finals
      • Competed in the final - top 16 knock out round and drew 3-3, went to a drop off where they lost by 1 to Belmont.
      • Overall finish 45th out of 95 teams

      Thank you to the many coaches who gave their time in Semester 2 to support the All Saints representative touch campaign whether it be through training sessions, coaching at Kings Cup or taking teams to represent at the All Schools Touch Championships, their knowledge, skills and support were much appreciated: Belinda Eckstein, Adam Power, Paul Diete, Tom Campbell, Tanya Chipps, Ben Garner, Rachel Tremayne, Luke Halcro and All Saints alumni Joe Herselman, Halle Cunningham, Ana Todorovic and Emma Steele.

      For two huge competitions, several of our 2025 results exceeded expectations, and we can’t wait to see the development and progress that our All Saints students can make on the touch scene in 2026.
