Gratitude, Growth, and the Promise of 2026

As we reach the end of this productive and joy-filled year, the past few weeks of celebration events have offered a beautiful reminder of what makes this community so special. Speech Night, our Eucharists, farewells, concerts and the many moments in between seemed to bring to life everything I have experienced throughout the year. The sense of wonder, gratitude and connection that has shaped my first year at All Saints felt concentrated in one final flourish, and there is more to come yet.

To each family, thank you. You have welcomed my own family with remarkable warmth, generosity and openness. That sense of belonging has meant more than I can express. I have never felt a stronger sense of purpose in my professional life than I do here and this community has helped ignite that purpose in ways I did not expect.

A year can feel fast when you are in the middle of it until you pause and notice how much we have navigated and achieved together. We began with a very wet start followed by a delayed car park that required patience and understanding. The cyclone earlier in the year reminded us of our shared need for safety, stability and community. We saw House Carnivals full of colour, courage and spirit. Our students embraced camps, tours and trips across Australia and the world including France, Japan and Vanuatu as well as Perisher, Europe and the Sunshine Coast. As is inevitable in a large community, we have also walked through moments of sadness together. Some families have farewelled loved ones this year and we have grieved the loss of a much loved colleague. I remain deeply grateful for the way our community supports one another in times of need. Our theme of Community became something lived rather than spoken through the way we continually showed up for each other.

This year has also reminded me of the depth and breadth of opportunity at All Saints. We are truly and unashamedly a school that offers a well rounded education built on courage, curiosity and connection. It shows in the way our students embrace sport, the arts and co curricular life with enthusiasm and pride. These small and ordinary moments reveal something important. They show young people discovering their light, strengthening their character and learning who they are becoming.

The theme of my Speech Night address was purpose. I spoke about the light within us that guides our choices and gives meaning to our relationships and our learning. Purpose is not something we invent. It is something we recognise in small moments of character, effort and care.

From this work our new school vision has emerged.

“To ignite purpose and possibility in every learner.”

Every learner is part of this community and we are learning and growing our purpose together.

Your engagement with our community survey was exceptional. The feedback was honest, affirming and constructive and it has highlighted our strengths while also naming opportunities we will embrace with care. This insight has guided the development of Blueprint 2026+, a community-led process that will shape our next chapter. We will launch the Blueprint in February along with a refreshed visual identity and a short film that captures the magic of All Saints and the promise of our future.

Thank you for an unforgettable first year. Thank you for trusting us with your children. And thank you for everything you contribute to our shared story. I wish every family a safe, restful and joy filled Christmas break. I look forward to seeing you in the new year ready to embrace all that 2026 will bring, full of purpose and full of possibility.

Wishing families Merry Christmas

Wow, that’s it! 2025's school year done. I hope that all families will look back on our year in the Junior School together with many wonderful memories. I am sure there have been good times, not so good times and a whole lot of in between but I hope that you will recall most strongly the moments of learning, laughter and love that have united our community.

As our Junior School students finish 2025 with a frenzy of Christmas celebrations and the finalisation of current learning goals, I am reminded of the words of Christopher Robin from The House at Pooh Corner:

“You must always remember that you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

Looking ahead to the new year can be daunting for our young people but we want their mindsets to be focused on the opportunities that will present themselves. Change can make us feel nervous but those feelings that our bodies experience when we are a little nervous are exactly the same feelings we have when we are excited. Moving into a new year level, a new class group or even a new part of the school is an important part of growing and learning, of becoming more independent and self-sufficient. I hope every All Saints student will take this mantra with them as they venture, excitedly, towards their next new beginning. Be proud of all you have achieved this year and prepare confidently for the adventures of 2026 knowing that you are brave and strong and smart.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish every All Saints family a very Merry Christmas and thank you for your generosity of heart, kindness and support during my time in the Junior School.

Remember: "We may not have it altogether but together we have it all."

Junior School – Celebrating Achievement Right Up To The Last Bell!

We may be getting close to the end of another busy and wonderfully successful year but our Junior School students and staff are still working hard and our beautiful learning spaces will be filled with engaging activities until the final minutes of the school year.
This past fortnight:

REMEMBRANCE DAY
We recognised and acknowledged the sacrifice of soldiers past and present with a minute of silence. What made this moment particularly special was that it took place right in the middle of play time. At the sound of the whistle every student stopped what they were doing and stood silently and respectfully. In seconds a vibrant, noisy playground transformed into a silent honouring of the past.

YEAR 2 FUN NIGHT
 Year 2 + fun + night time = a great afterschool adventure.

YEAR 6 GIRLS AFTERNOON IN

This beautiful afternoon hosted by Emma from Pippin Girl marked the culmination of our resilience and wellbeing program for our Year 6 girls. They spent an afternoon together strengthening their understanding of each other as they prepare to take Middle School on. This year we invited Year 6 mums/special friends to join in this poignant afternoon of reflection and love. The girls and their special guests shared in a delicious meal, prepared and served by our Senior School Hospitality Trainees. Extra special letters were also shared. Spearheaded by our ever-inspiring Mrs Buckley, the aim of this program is to empower every girl as she navigates the tricky world of being a pre-teen. Emma leads the girls into some wonderfully honest and real conversations about self-care and growing up. View the photos here.

YEAR 1 AND 2 SWIMMING CARNIVAL’S
Our Year 1 and 2 students showed off their growing swimming skills to a very admiring cheer squad this week. Everyone swam a series of laps of the pool to the delight of proud mums, dads and special guests.

YEARS 3-6 ACADEMIC AWARDS ASSEMBLY

We recognised the academic achievements, and inspiring acts of Endeavour and Citizenship at this year’s Academic Assembly. A new format allowed us to highlight these achievements in a more streamlined way. It was a wonderfully supportive and encouraging time of celebration.

INTER-HOUSE LUNCH TIME HANDBALL TOURNAMENTS

Our Year 6 House Captains threw down the gauntlet this week, hosting handball tournaments during lunch breaks as part of the 2025 Battle of the Ball Games. Students teamed up with someone from their house and jumped into the challenge, with Junior School houses going head-to-head in a fun knockout competition of skill and staying power.

Year 3 to 6 students battled it out on the handball courts, and our House Captains have led the charge with their trademark energy, enthusiasm and organisation. A big thank you to Mr Halcro, who supports and guides our Year 6 leaders so superbly, helping them bring their ideas to life.

It has been a hotly contested round-robin and the Grand Final games are sure to draw a big crowd.

And still to come in our final days:

CHRISTMAS WINDOW

Two sneaky, cheeky Christmas elves have been creating magical mischief during our final weeks at school. Every morning we all rush to the window of Mrs Herbert’s classroom, where these clever little elves seem to have made their home, to see what Christmas fun they’ve created overnight. The windows are beautiful, filled with Christmas joy and have had our entire Junior School filled with excitement. I can’t wait to see what next week will bring!

CHRISTMAS DOOR CHALLENGE

This year’s annual door decorating challenge is underway in preparation for the judging on our final day at school. Each class designs and creates a Christmas door competing for the magnificent Christmas Door Challenge Cup. The competition is already heating up.

OUR END OF YEAR CHRISTMAS CONCERT
We are planning a night filled with the magic of Christmas with families spread out across our main oval. I do hope you can join us.

MUSICAL 2026 READ THROUGH
After the excitement of auditions and cast announcements for next year’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Junior School Musical, the cast will have their first complete read through in the final days of term. This is always a momentous moment in the journey to musical performances.

2026 Step Up Morning

Next week the Junior School will have our Step Up Morning which will see all students spend some time in their 2026 classes with, wherever possible, their new teachers too. We hope that by including all students in this orientation morning it will ease the nerves that can present during this crucial transition. The morning will be spent with new classes getting to know one another and building upon the excitement of a new school year. We will welcome all new students into our classes for the morning as well.

Mrs Buckley wrote last term about the class placement process and asked parents to trust the Junior School team and the process. The process of placing every child into their next year’s class groups is an incredibly complex one and our teachers take great care and time to get the new combinations as balanced as possible.

We understand that this annual change can create some nerves but, once again, ask that parents trust us and encourage your children to embrace the change as an exciting opportunity.

I am confident that the majority of students will come home after Step Up Morning feeling positive about their new class. For any still experiencing a little apprehension I encourage parents to help them focus on the new opportunities and find the positives. This will help them prepare for the changes with a growth mindset, setting them up for the very best chance of success in 2026.

Year 6 Student Leaders 2026

JUNIOR SCHOOL LEADERS
Congratulations to our 2026 Year 6 Junior School Leaders who were announced last week at Chapel and were presented with their badges at our Academic Assembly. Our Junior School leaders take on additional responsibilities such as leading assemblies, assisting with Chapel, take ownership of the publication of our fortnightly student online news space (LOL Space) and help in the playground as our Games Crew.

Students aspiring to become a Junior School Leader submit their aspirations as part of their leadership nomination form. Staff from across the school consider character traits such as teamwork, responsibility, reliability and communication as well as the contributions students have already made to the Junior School. We typically start with a small number of leaders and, as the year progresses and Year 6 students settle into their leadership year, we present more students with badges.

The following students will be our starting Junior School Leader team for 2026:
Lucy M, Evie D, Liam B, Allyra L, Tess B, Milly H, Pippy G, Charlotte C, Julietta Rz, Olivia H, Juliette C, Lomani T
and Arthur MG.

HOUSE CAPTAINS
The process for deciding our House Captains involves presenting a short speech to the peer group outlining the leadership qualities that you would bring to the position of House Captain. The peer group then votes and these tallies in combination with teacher reflections regarding sportsmanship, engagement and communication skills are used to identify the successful applicants. Congratulations to our House Captains for 2024:

  • Clovelly – Evelyn S and James B
  • Lyndon – Skye S and Baxter S
  • Oakey – Matilda E and Zane M
  • Talgai – Zoe P and Ollie S

MUSIC CAPTAINS 2025

  • Choir – Tayla P and Austin N
  • Band - Charlotte C and Arthur MG
  • Strings- Julietta R and Harriet P

YEAR 6 REPRESENTATIVES
In addition to these leadership opportunities, Year 6 students are also able to nominate to become a Year 6 Rep at the beginning of the year. The additional responsibilities of our reps make significant contributions to the smooth running of the Junior School and include tasks such as helping as a Prep walker, assistance in the Art room, with technology and in preparing ice bags for first aid. They operate as mentors to younger students, help in the library and with lost property, paper recycling and tuckshop. Those Year 6 students who commit to a particular Rep role and demonstrate an ongoing responsibility will be badged in the new year.

Staffing News 2026

Doing everything we can to support every learner make continual gains in their learning remains the primary goal of our teaching and learning teams. This involves, wherever possible, engaging our learners where they are developmentally, scaffolding and supporting them towards constant growth, progress and improvement.

These processes are in continual states of review and reflection to ensure we regularly consider what we are doing, why and whether there are better ways. This is one of the things I love about, and am proud of in, the Junior School.

A Bold New Approach - Trial Continues
This year in the Junior School we were given the amazing opportunity to trial a new initiative design to support even further our students and their teachers.

With our focus on collaborative learning within the classroom environment, an additional teacher was added to our Year 1 to Year 6 teaching teams. The main role of these additional educators (called Team Teachers) is to teach cooperatively in classrooms alongside classroom teachers to enable further, deeper differentiation of the curriculum for our young learners.

As with any new and bold initiative, there were a few early bumps as we refined our approach and streamlined our teaching practices. But the overall feedback from staff has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly in how this model allows us to support, guide, nurture and challenge more students more of the time.

Recently we were invited to share our Team Teacher model with peer schools from across Queensland as part of an Independent Schools Queensland showcase of leading practices in private schools. This was a great honour, to be highlighted and celebrated for the work we are doing to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.

This model, with further refinement and improvements, will continue into 2026. I am so grateful to the school for giving the Junior School the opportunity to explore unique initiatives that strengthen our teaching and learning program.

Farewells
It is with a touch of sadness mixed with every good blessing that I announce some staff changes into next year.

  • Mr Mel Chandler has made the exciting decision to retire at the end of 2025 after an inspiring career here at All Saints. Hundreds of lucky students have been blessed to have spent time in Mr Chandler’s care during his time in the Junior School. Mel has worked in the Junior School, supporting individual students with care, compassion, patience, kindness and incredible skill. He is one of those very special people whose sensitivity and emotional intelligence makes a real difference in the lives of young people every day and he will be greatly missed. We wish him the very best as he moves into this next chapter of his life.
  • Mr Chandler’s retirement has meant that the vivacious and much loved Mrs Brooke Edwards will be staying on in the Junior School next year.
  • Teacher Angels, Mrs Tarryn Durbidge and Mrs Justine Letchford, have also made the difficult decision to leave All Saints this year. After many years of supporting and assisting children they are each moving on to new adventures. We wish them both the very best.
  • The big shoes left behind by Justine and Tarryn will be very capably filled by the wonderful Mrs Jasmin Kechel. Miss Jasmin has been working in the Junior School this semester and we are so glad to have her continuing next year.
  • Miss Nadia Durrant from Pre Prep Yellow has made the decision to move to full time classroom teaching next year and has secured a position at John Paul College in Brisbane. Congratulations and all the best, Nadia.
  • Our other part time Pre Prep teacher (Red), Mrs Chika Danvers, is also stepping away from teaching for a while as she and her husband await the birth of their second child. We wish Chika and her family much happiness into the future.
  • Replacing Nadia and Chika in Pre Prep next year are two of our current team: Mrs Ali Woods (Red) and Mrs Bec Clarke (Yellow) will be our new Pre Prep part-time dynamic duo. Both Ali and Bec are already highly regarded Junior School teachers with Early Years experience, and they are both so excited to be working with our littlest learners and their families next year.
  • The inspiring and much loved Ms Pat Ciafadini will be taking a very well-earned year of leave in 2026. There are no words to aptly encapsulate the impact Ms Ciaf has had on the Junior School community in her 35 years of teaching here. As our current longest standing staff member, Pat has witnessed first-hand the incredible growth and change across those years of our beautiful community. She is a much admired and adored member of the Junior School staff not only as a teacher of significant note but also for her quirky sense of humour and cheeky sense of fun. She will be greatly missed but we wish her every happiness as she spends some precious time with family next year.
  • Replacing Pat in 2026 is Mrs Cathy Hunt, art teacher extraordinaire and also All Saints mum to a Middle and Senior Schooler. We look forward to welcoming Cathy into the Junior School family next year.
  • I would also like to say a special thank you to Mrs Nicci Thompson and Mrs Jenna Kenworthy, two of our regular relief teachers who stepped into long-term contracts this year — Nicci in 4T and Jenna in the library. We will continue to see them as Junior School regular relievers into the future, but their contributions this year have been greatly valued.

Super Swim Week Success!

Congratulations to all Junior School students on their incredible efforts during Super Swim Week! Together we swam a total of 25,913 laps – that’s almost 650 kms!

Our sporting Dream Team, Mrs Liussi and Mr Meaney, coordinated a swimathon as part of our annual Super Swim Week. Each class (Prep–6) sought sponsors from family and friends per lap and then determinedly spent their Week 6 PE lessons chasing those laps. The energy and enthusiasm on the pool deck was inspiring.

All money raised will contribute to our 2025 Giveathon total. There is still time to donate, click there for details.

Sweet Success: Year 3 Students bring ‘Snow’ to Lunchtime

Last week, our school was buzzing with excitement — and a little extra sweetness — thanks to Year 3 students, Lucy and Chloe, whose wonderful and generous fundraising idea came to life in the most colourful way.

A few months ago, these two creative thinkers wrote to me with a heartfelt proposal: to hold a fundraiser for our Giveathon. Their plan was simple yet powerful — selling snow cones to raise money for those in need. Behind that idea was a big heart and a strong sense of purpose.

And last week, their vision became reality.

Combining Lucy and Chloe’s initiative with a proposal from our Year 10 Business and Entrepreneurship students to coordinate a series of stalls, and our very first World Kindness Day Market was born. Together, some of our youngest and most senior students partnered to showcase teamwork, organisation, and a shared commitment to helping others.

The result? A vibrant day filled with colour, community spirit, and generosity. Chloe and Lucy’s snow cone stall raised an impressive $555 for Giveathon.

We were also very grateful to Chloe and Lucy’s family who all pitched in to help on the day. What an inspiring example of generosity they set.

Well done, Lucy and Chloe! You’ve shown that leadership, compassion, and entrepreneurial thinking can start at any age. Your creativity made a real difference, and we couldn’t be prouder.

It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over

Whilst it is most worthwhile stopping to reflect on the three wonderful Middle School Celebration assemblies in recent weeks … well done to one and all … it is also worth remembering that we are still going full steam ahead right up until the end of the school year on Friday 28 November. Indeed, your Middler will be at the tail end of their outstanding summative assessment items tasks that have a bearing on their end-of-year report.

A reminder that, in the case of the five Core subjects (English, Geography, History, Mathematics & Science), we are reporting to the Standard Elaborations as laid out by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA). What does that all mean, I hear you ask? It means the Core teachers are being asked to assign each student a standard of achievement that reflects an individual’s skills and understandings at the end of the year. Rather than results being strictly cumulative, teachers will be determining an on balance judgment that gives students a chance to be appropriately acknowledged for any progress they might make over a sequence of assessment tasks throughout the year. Clear as mud? Ask your child’s Core teacher for more details.

      STAFF MOVEMENTS
Over the past month, we have been busily sorting out staffing for 2026 and I will thus be able to inform you of all the Core teaching allocations for the New Year before the end of Term 4.

      Year 9 Graduation

On Thursday 6 November, the Year 9 community gathered in the Nairn Theatre to celebrate the Year 9 Graduation Ceremony. Mr David Terblanche (Year 9 Coordinator), Mrs Marnie Wainwright (AHOMS: Curriculum), and their team did an exemplary job of celebrating three years of adolescent milestones for the Class of 2028 – and the Year 9 students responded superbly. All in all, it was a bitter-sweet evening whereby families understandably began looking forward to the next three years in the Senior School, but there was also an authentic sense of nostalgia out there as we paused to reflect on the cohort’s Middle Schooling experiences.

After once again applauding the Middle School’s Foundation Day Award winners, Mia G and Raph B, the equally prestigious Archbishop Awards were presented to Eve Y and Shannon BC. Celebrating Creativity at the Middle School Art Exhibition: Connection

On Thursday 13 November, the Middle School Art Room was ablaze with light … and with the talents of our Visual Art students. The gallery was filled with a kaleidoscope of colour and form – a showcase of pieces from Year 7, 8 and 9.

A huge thank you to Mrs Rachel Luhan and Ms Kelly Farrer for their incredible efforts in curating the exhibition and encouraging the students to achieve such great heights!

Astronomical End of Year for our Year 7 and 8 Science Explorers

Over the past several weeks, our stellar Science Explorers have delved into the fundamentals of planetary physics.

From observing orbital motion to modelling and measuring moon-phase light with lux meters, and calculating Earth’s gravitational field strength using light gates and pendulum motion, our explorers engaged at every level.

This inquiry culminated in applying verified gravitational field strength to determine just how fast and high our academic athletes could launch a ball skyward.

The morning concluded with a reflective debrief and some delicious cosmic cupcakes.

Thank you to our explorers and mentors for a tremendous term!

      Finishing with a Bang

I quote one of our teachers when I say: “All Saints knows when it’s time to work … but it also knows when it’s time to party”. Thankfully, it’s very much time for the latter. Here is a breakdown of our final week:

      • Monday 24 November (House Uniform): Middle School Buroinjin Carnival (all day)
      • Tuesday 25 November (Sport Uniform): classes as normal (morning); Lip Sync Competition Prep (12.45-3.15pm)
      • Wednesday 26 November (Sport Uniform): Middle School Wet ‘n’ Wild Excursion (all day)
      • Thursday 27 November (House Uniform): classes as normal (morning); Lip Sync Competition (12.45-3.15pm)
      • Friday 28 November (Sport Uniform): Last Day. Final Chapel and assembly

If your Middler wishes to opt out of any of the above, please don’t have a bar of it; each event is tremendous fun and is an integral part of building the ties that bind our wonderful community together. As Mr Callaghan, former MS Chaplain, always says: "At All Saints; we don’t have to; at All Saints, we get to!"

      Class Allocations for 2026

A reminder that, as per previous communications; the Middle School will be releasing the Core Teacher allocations for next year in the week preceding the commencement of classes in 2025; that is, the week commencing Monday 12 January. Parents will be able to access this information via FIDO.

This allows students the time to savour 2025 and minimise any anxieties they might have regarding a new year level and teacher. Please understand that if we make any exception in this regard, it will severely undermine the decision we have made to hold off the release date, and we would no doubt be inundated with inquiries over the Christmas break. We thank you, in advance, for your understanding in this matter.

      The Class of 2025 Celebrations

On behalf of the Senior School, I would like to thank the Class of 2025 for the many contributions they have made to the school community throughout their time at All Saints.

It was a memorable final week during which Year 12 enjoyed a series of moving and joyful celebrations to mark the end of their education at All Saints. Speech Night was a spectacular affair. The students truly appreciated the occasion and the outstanding performances of their peers. The final whole School assembly and the tearful Tunnel of Love were both beautiful occasions. These will be followed by their Graduation and Valedictory this evening. I have been so impressed by the maturity and sensitivity that our Year 12 students have demonstrated over these final weeks which have sadly drawn to an end, and in doing so the Class of 2025 has completed a magnificent chapter in the history of All Saints Anglican School.

      Check out the photos here.

      YEAR 12 FORMAL SUCCESS
Last night’s Year 12 Formal was a brilliant event, superbly organised by Mrs Stacey Ward, and assisted by the Student Representative Committee, Mrs Katie Ashcroft and Mrs Jade Chivers. The Gold Coast Turf Club was a fantastic venue and did justice to the amazing Class of 2025, whose presentation and behaviour represented a proud moment for All Saints. The special treat of the fireworks, generously donated by the All Saints Alumni was another example of making these end of year celebrations so special.

Photos of the formal can be found here.

We wish the Class of 2025 a safe and joyful finish to the year, and all the best for the years to come.

      Year 11 Examination Shutdown

Year 11 students begin their final assessment block for 2025 on Monday 24 November. The examination shutdown period finishes on Friday 28 November.

Students and parents are reminded that detailed assessment calendars are available through FIDO.

Unit 3 and 4 assessments cannot be missed without a medical certificate on the correct QCAA paperwork.

If a student is ill and unable to attend their assessment, a parent must call Senior School Administration, 07 5587 0352, and supply a medical certificate
so that the assessment may be rescheduled. This is a QCAA requirement as students are now completing Unit 3 assessment.

Year 11 students are not required at school throughout this examination period unless they have assessment
. It should be noted, however, that students are most welcome to be at school, using the library and other facilities and can make appointments to meet with staff. Times for oral presentations have been individually scheduled between students and their teachers. There are also a number of students who are required to come in to catch up on work in their applied and short course subjects with their teachers. Those students have been contacted.

Students who are on campus for assessments should be conscientious and show consideration for assessment that is underway and classes that may be in session. When students come on to campus for study, assignment work or assessment they are expected to be correctly dressed in school uniform, use their locker and keep their phone in their locker. It is requested that students change into neat, casual clothes on leaving if they do not intend to go directly home from school. It is not appropriate for students to wear school uniform in public places during school hours.

Students should always be checking the shutdown timetable in FIDO: FIDO - Assessment Information for any updates. There may be changes to times or venues.

Students must also take their computer to the IT department for reimaging after they have completed their final piece of assessment.

      Year 10 Examination Shutdown

The Year 10 (Senior Secondary, Unit 1) examinations begin Monday 24 November and continue until Friday 28 November.

Year 10 students are not required at school throughout this examination period unless they have assessment.
This is their first examination shutdown period and we have spoken with them about how it should be approached. We do not have classes during this shutdown period to give these Unit 1 students the time and space to prepare. It should be noted, however, that students are most welcome to be at school, using the library and other facilities and can make appointments to meet with staff. There are also a number of students who are required to come in to catch up on work in their applied and short course subjects with their teachers. Those students have been contacted. Times for oral presentations have been individually scheduled between students and their teachers.

If a student is ill and unable to attend their assessment, a parent must contact Senior School Administration, 07 5587 0352, and supply a medical certificate so that the assessment may be rescheduled
. This is a QCAA requirement now that these students are sitting their Unit 1 assessment.

Students who are on campus for assessments should be conscientious and show consideration for assessment that is underway and classes that may be in session. When students come to school for study, assignment work or assessment they are expected to be correctly dressed in school uniform, use their locker and keep their phone in their locker. On Friday 7 November, Year 10 Business finalists took centre stage at the annual Innov8 Pitching Showcase. This exciting event, hosted by the outgoing 2025 Business Leaders in collaboration with the newly appointed 2026 Ambassadors, marked the grand finale of the Year 10 Business elective, a dynamic course designed to spark entrepreneurial thinking and sharpen students’ business skills.

Seven finalist teams presented their innovative concepts to a panel of industry professionals who generously volunteered their Friday evening to support our students. The panel of “sharks” featured:

      • Mrs Angela Barany: Cordon Bleu Chef and owner of Joy&Joy Catering
      • Mr Zac Eaton: All Saints alumnus, founder of Holby Electrical, Jetts gym owner, townhouse developer, and business coach
      • Sophia Rizzo: 17-year-old founder of global beauty brand Glitter Girl, joined by her mother, Megan Rizzo
      • Mr Jason Zhong and Mr Bradley Cox: Founders of Exam Insights, with Mr Cox also delivering an inspiring keynote address

The creativity and innovation on display were nothing short of exceptional. High performing teams were awarded places as follows:

      • First Place: Pica-Boo by Briana L and Bernadette K, a sensory-rich food pack designed to help toddlers explore diverse textures and flavours.
      • Second Place: Neo Clean by Hugo W and Oliver N, featuring a UV-reactive hygienic film to eliminate microbes and bacteria from gym equipment.
      • People’s Choice Award: SandShield by Milla A, Sophie W, and Hannah B, a clever sand-resistant sunscreen solution.

The calibre of ideas presented throughout the Year 10 Business elective and at Innov8
proves that entrepreneurial spirit is alive and thriving within the All Saints community.

Congratulations to all participants for their creativity, courage, and commitment to innovation!

      McNab Building Pathways Program

McNab Group recently delivered its Building Pathways Program for Year 11 and 12 students, attracting more than 100 applicants. We were delighted to have two All Saints students, Isabella W (Year 12) and Rylee B (Year 11), were successfully selected to take part in the five-day experience.

Isabella and Rylee participated in the University Path Work Experience Program, designed for students exploring future careers in construction management, property management, architecture or quantity surveying. Throughout the week, students gained insights into the McNab business, learned about the breadth of career opportunities within the construction industry, and visited several McNab development sites to see projects in action.

We are especially pleased to share that Isabella has been invited to return in February for a paid work experience placement, further expanding her skills and industry knowledge.

Congratulations to Isabella and Rylee on this outstanding achievement!

Celebrating the Career Pathways of Our Graduating Class

Over the past three years, our Year 12 students have well and truly Explored, Dreamed and Discovered.

Their journey began in Year 10 when they first stepped into Futures classes to consider their options and gain an understanding of the world of work. Since then, they have embraced every opportunity available — completing work experience, undertaking school-based traineeships and apprenticeships, attending university open days, careers experience days and connecting with alumni and parents to gain deeper insight into potential career pathways.

Our aspiring doctors and health professionals participated in Med Week, while many others attended lunchtime sessions in the Careers Centre to hear directly from universities and employer groups.

A highlight of this year was the Year 12 Explore, Dream, Discover Careers Dinner, where students had the chance to network with professionals working in fields they hope to pursue.

At this week’s final Careers Presentation, students confidently shared their career goals and next steps — a true celebration of their talents, passions and purpose.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025
. It has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to following your future pathways with pride.

TAFE Training Awards - School-based Trainee/Apprentice of the Year

Year 12 student Lilli A has once again been recognised for her outstanding commitment to vocational learning, receiving a nomination for the TAFE Training Awards – School-based Trainee/Apprentice of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Lilli was one of just seven trainees and apprentices selected from school students across the Gold Coast completing their training through TAFE, making this back-to-back nomination an exceptional achievement. Lilli recently completed her school-based traineeship in Early Childhood Education & Care with Kool Kids Early Learning Centre, Isle of Capri. With aspirations to become a teacher, Lilli will begin her university studies next year. Her traineeship has provided Lilli with invaluable, real-world experience in early learning settings and a strong foundation for her future career in education.

We congratulate Lilli on this remarkable recognition and wish her every success as she continues her journey towards becoming a teacher.

      VET Awards

Each year at the Senior School Awards Evening, we present two awards for vocational studies. These awards celebrate students who have used our vocational programme to prepare for their futures post-school. This year we have two amazing recipients:

Vocational Student of the Year – Talia Sharpe
Talia’s career ambition is to run her own business—whether that be a café or something centred around animals or perhaps something completely different! Talia has embraced our vocational offerings to build skills in each of these areas. Talia began by completing the Certificate III in Hospitality at All Saints, gaining valuable front-of-house, cookery and customer service skills—an excellent foundation should she choose to open a café in the future. She then expanded her knowledge by undertaking the Diploma of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, where she explored how successful businesses are developed, launched and grown. Most recently, Talia completed a Certificate II in Animal Care, giving her strong foundational skills for any animal-related venture. Through this diverse combination of qualifications, Talia has positioned herself well for whichever business path she chooses to pursue. Congratulations Talia, we look forward to following your business journey.

School Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year – Alexander Lee
When Alex entered the Senior School in Year 10 he had a clear vision for his future: to become a carpenter and eventually run his own property development business. In Year 10, Alex took the first step towards this goal by attending the Gold Coast Trade College, where he completed the Certificate I in Construction. By the end of that same year, he was signed as a school-based apprentice carpenter with Beith Building Pty Ltd. Over the past two years, Alex has successfully balanced his apprenticeship with his school studies, demonstrating commitment, perseverance and a strong work ethic. He will now transition into his full-time carpentry apprenticeship as a second-year apprentice. Alex is well on his way to a rewarding career in the construction industry, and we have no doubt he will become a highly respected name in the Gold Coast building community. Congratulations, Alex!

What it’s Like to be a Bondy!

Last week, a group of enthusiastic diploma students had the opportunity to visit Bond University for an engaging and inspiring day on campus. The visit gave students a valuable insight into university life and the exciting opportunities available post Year 12.

The day was hands-on and interactive, allowing students to explore entrepreneurship and innovation in the real world, tackle creative challenges, and collaborate with peers from other schools. One of the highlights of the day was when students worked in teams to design and pitch their own innovative product ideas — showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking, all whilst experiencing what it’s like to be a 'Bondy’ (Bond University student).

Big congratulations to our All Saints team of entrepreneurs – Muse Me! 🎉

This clever crew wowed the judges at Bond University with their genius idea — an app to help teenagers beat boredom. Their app, Muse Me, suggested fun things to do nearby based on their location, interests, and budget — perfect for when you’ve got nothing to do but don’t want to spend all your hard-earned pocket money!

      Preparation for Success- Diploma Ready!

We are incredibly proud of our students and the effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork they have demonstrated over the past five weeks whilst organising, and planning their events in Junior, Middle and Senior School, as part of the Year 10 Diploma Preparation program. There were seven classes and a total of 85 students involved, and the range of creative and well-executed events was truly impressive.

For many students, these fundraisers offered a chance to step outside their comfort zones and develop new skills. Some students washed and polished cars for the very first time, others mastered the BBQ, confidently cooking sausages to perfection despite having never used one before. Several students developed skills in handling cash, others took charge of sales — enthusiastically selling sausages, drinks, cookies, brownies, cupcakes and lolly guessing jars.

The experience not only supported a great cause, Giveathon, but also allowed students to work together as a team and give back to others. As Oscar H reminded us, “It’s the small things that make a big difference.”

Over the two-week period the teams raised an impressive grand total of $1,656.92 — an outstanding achievement that reflects the students’ hard work, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the entire process.

We would also like to give a big thanks to Mr Evans, Mrs Travers, Mr Harm and Mother Ann for facilitating and supporting our events at each of the sub schools respectively.

      Giveathon 2025

OUR WONDERLAND REACHES OUT TO OTHERS
As we wrap up another incredible year at All Saints Anglican School, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every student, parent, staff member, and friend of our community who contributed to Giveathon 2025. Your kindness and commitment have once again shown the true heart of All Saints.

This year, together, we raised a stunning....  $70,054.00!

Timmy the Turtle raised $2,993.00, and various other events throughout the school ranging from Bake Sales to a Mad Hatter Tea Party, Dignity and Homelessness Week, our Junior School Swimathon and Entrepreneurs day, and Middle School Markets.

These funds will make a real difference to the charities we support, $41,843 of which will go to our designated Giveathon Charities:

      • The Stroke Foundation (Junior School)
      • Maddie Riewoldt Foundation (Middle School)
      • Angelman Syndrome Australia (Senior School)

This is because something spectacular happened this year:

Our Service Learning students, ably assisted by their dedicated teachers, went above and beyond to bring in extra funds for Charities which challenged them through their subject and leadership learning. Their creativity, energy, and determination were inspiring, and their efforts remind us that leadership and compassion start with action.

Three standout initiatives deserve special mention:

      • Mrs Kathleen Stephenson and Reeves House set out on a quest to support Orange Sky, an organisation providing mobile laundry services for those experiencing homelessness. Students rallied together in a walk that raised an incredible $13,071.00 for this cause.
      • Mrs Olivia French and her English classes, with the support of our dedicated library staff, took on the challenge to Write a Book in a Day to assist children living with cancer. Students spent a full day in the library crafting stories for these children and raised a sterling $15,500.00 in the process.
      • Our Vocational Education Department, under the mentorship of Mrs Leanne Gordon, used their Business Certificate and Diploma expertise to create a series of events for our Giveathon charities, earning an impressive $2,950.40.
      • Yr 12 Student Annaliese Murphy and her friends, through the Health and PE curriculum challenged themselves to take on the Bridge to Brisbane Race, and raised $600.00 for Angelman’s Syndrome Australia in the process.

These initiatives reflect the heart of Giveathon: compassion in action, creativity in service, and a community united for good.

At present, our Giving Trees and Christmas hampers are filling up, and will be collected by our grateful Charities next week. They are Anglicare, and St John’s Crisis Centre.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your generosity is shaping a brighter future for those in need and strengthening the bonds that make All Saints such a special place.

Spreading Joy Through Music: Britten Girls Choir Visits Tricare Cypress Gardens

In a beautiful display of music and community spirit, All Saints Anglican School’s Britten Girls’ Choir recently brought joy to residents of Tricare Cypress Gardens’ Retirement Community. Their performance was more than just an afternoon of melodies; it was a heartfelt connection across generations.

The visit was made possible through the incredible efforts and generosity of our Arts Educators, Gaynor Donnelly, Kathy O’Keefe, and Owen Clarke, whose dedication ensures that students experience the power of service through the arts. Feedback received from residents has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing deep appreciation for the uplifting experience. Equally, the students shared their delight, reflecting on the meaningful conversations and smiles they encountered.

These excursions remind us of the transformative role music plays—not only in showcasing talent but in fostering empathy, joy, and community engagement. We are proud of our students and grateful to our educators for making moments like these possible.

Four Saints Drafted as AFL Dreams Take Flight

It has been a history-making week for All Saints, with three of our students drafted to the Gold Coast Suns in the Telstra AFL Draft — and another joining the AFL ranks through a father–son selection. It’s a remarkable moment for these young athletes and a proud milestone for our school community.

      • Zeke Uwland (Class of 2024)
Drafted at Pick 2, Zeke’s selection places him among the very top tier of emerging AFL talent. His hard work, resilience and consistency have been widely recognised, and we are thrilled to see him reach this milestone.
      • Beau Addinsall (Class of 2024)
Beau was selected at Pick 18, with the Suns matching a bid from the West Coast Eagles in an emotional moment that spoke to his loyalty and connection to the Gold Coast community. His commitment, skill and character have made him a standout throughout his junior career.
      • Koby Coulson (Year 12)
Koby’s draft moment unfolded on Night 2 of the draft, meaning he had to miss the Year 12 Formal — a big call, but one that reflects the significance of the occasion. A standout member of the Suns Academy and the 2025 U18 All Australian team, Koby has earned every bit of this next step.
      • Kalani White (Class of 2025)
On top of the Suns trio, Kalani White has been pre-selected by the Melbourne Demons as a rookie under the father–son rule. This selection recognises both his strong development and the legacy of his family within the game.

To have four Saints drafted in one week is an extraordinary accomplishment, and one that reflects the growing pathway opportunities for young footballers in our region.

We can’t wait to watch Zeke, Beau, Koby and Kalani take the next steps in their football journeys — and we’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.

Congratulations to all four Saints and to the families, mentors and coaches who have supported them along the way.

      Performing Arts

      Significant Achievements

Our students recently gained their Associate Diploma, one for Music, the other Drama.

Year 8 student Mia H, recently performed a 35-minute recital on piano, sitting the examination for the Associate Diploma of Music (AMUS). This is a significant achievement, especially for someone of her age. Mia also plays violin and is a member of All Saints Camerata the Holloway String Quintet. She has performed at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod numerous times and with the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra.

Year 12 student Zali EB has studied Speech and Drama for many years and was successful in gaining her Associate Diploma (ATLC Performing Speech and Drama) Trinity College of London. Zali is a fine dancer and actress, and was in the school Musical Newsies, has performed in Theatrefest, as well as other musicals and performances outside of school.

Year 12 student Olwen P has demonstrated exceptional dedication to Speech and Drama, successfully attaining her Associate Diploma (ATCL Speech and Performance) from Trinity College London.  Her commitment to the arts and refined skills in speech and performance make her an outstanding representative of our school’s creative excellence.

      Congratulations!

Junior School Ensembles Wow Audience at Final Concert

Over 300 children took to the Nairn stage on Tuesday in week 7 for their final performance of the year, in front of a packed audience of family and friends.

The show started brilliantly with the Year 5 Superband, students who have only been learning less than a year, before showcasing the Copland Band (year 6 students).

Even younger musicians were seen in the next 3 groups, Year 3 Strings Orchestra, Delius and then Corelli Strings. Seeing the growth of students through these ensembles was impressive.

Rounding out the concert were choirs, from years 3 – 6. They performed separately, and then combined for a lovely Christmas medley finale, with over 200 children on stage.

Congratulations to all performers and thank you to our Ensemble conductors Mrs Clarke, Mrs Ramirez, and Mr Lange, for their guidance of the students throughout the year.
